Honesty-Humility, the Dark Tetrad, and ideological beliefs: Their incremental validity in predicting explicit prejudice toward asylum seekers
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two studies examined how individual differences relate to prejudiced attitudes toward asylum seekers. Results consistently showed that people had relatively low scores on Honesty-Humility and high the Dark Tetrad (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, everyday sadism) ideological beliefs (social dominance orientation, patriotism, nationalism). More importantly, multiple regression analyses revealed (in particular, Machiavellianism) provided incremental validity beyond Honesty–Humility in predicting explicit prejudice, but both were outpredicted by beliefs. These findings suggest narrower personality traits provide additional useful information for explaining intergroup broader trait. However, (and Honesty-Humility) are only distal determinants of while proximal determinant. Study 2 also included a measure implicit prejudice Overall, Honesty-Humility, Tetrad, much less predictive (compared explicit) attitudes.

The Dark Triad beyond the SPI: Providing Incremental Validity in Predicting Prosocial and Risky Behaviours
Personality measures have been criticized for their lack of coverage of some traits. As a result, researchers have examined and combined measures to better understand and predict target behaviours. The Supernumerary Personality Inventory (SPI; Paunonen, 2002) was designed to measure a wide range of personality traits, including antisocial tendencies. The Dark Triad (Paulhus & Williams, 2002) wa...
